Alaia Iztua 6´2 surf board designed by Jose Ignacio Andreano
The alaias or traditional Hawaiian surfboards have the particularity of not having a keel. For many years it was the only way to catch waves.
Having a spectacular renaissance in 2006, conveying the most basic essence of gliding and unique sensations that every surf lover should try. Forcing to a perfect positioning and an extraordinary balance. The paulownia wood wings have the characteristic of flexing when one catches the wave and rides on top, thus taking a shape similar to the characteristic curvature on the surfboards (rocker).
At the bottom, towards the tail, they have a concave that occupies 75% of the surface of the alaia where a channel is created where the water passes through and the same current makes it rise, a nose brushed by the bottom so that it does not get stuck in the water and some edges, also at the bottom, lowered to be able to make turns more easily. They are protected with linseed oil and turpentine 80/20
