Hippokamp lounge chair
6.900 €
Hippokamp is a tribute to furniture as an art form - a lounge chair's response to a symphony orchestrated by Peter Qvist. With this chair, the art of engineering meets poetry in all its simplicity. The name Hippokamp comes from the Greek hippokamp, meaning "Seahorse." Most of the time, it acts as a serpentine mythological riding animal, sometimes with wings, pulling the god Poseidon's chariot. With Hippokamp, they have created a tiny "seahorse" in the form of a stool.

The Hippokamp lounge chair consists of a laminated birch veneer individually oiled and waxed to give the wood a silky smooth finish. The design of the product is made using 3D technology. Once the basic shape has been found, the objective is to define the lines in their entirety while maintaining good joints between the elements. After several prototypes of persevering work, the final design is defined. The different wood pieces are processed by a milling machine generating a minimum of waste of the original material. The edges are rounded by hand, and each element is in turn sanded by machine and by hand.
