“A piece of furniture is a success when you are invited to use it without explanation “.
We do Wood creates eco-designed wood furniture using certified raw materials. Ethics and aesthetics go hand in hand in the work of this brand that offers careful and original designs, while ensuring that the production process is as respectful as possible with the medium, from the selection of raw materials to packaging final. Its products are made from bamboo, regarded as one of the most sustainable natural resources in the world. We do Wood only works with certified plantations, which means that its bamboo is grown without any chemicals, pesticides, herbicides or fertilizers. But its commitment to the environment goes much further.
During its manufacturing processes no harmful chemicals are used and all the adhesives used exceed the strict European standard E1 for indoor air quality. In order to reduce emissions from the manufacturing process, bamboo is sent directly from the plantation to the premises where its furniture is manufactured, avoiding unnecessary transportation routes. Finally, the product is flat packed, which helps to minimize the use of packaging material and decreases shipping volume.
Bamboo, a sustainable raw material par excellence, is the only woody plant whose repopulation rate is in balance with the rate of human consumption. This is possible thanks to the speed at which it reaches maturity (it takes about four years). It also reproduces at a very fast rate naturally, continuously generating new outbreaks without the need for chemicals, pesticides, herbicides or fertilizers. But in addition, there are other reasons that make bamboo a great choice as a sustainable raw material.
This plant plays a crucial role in the balance of oxygen and carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. A bamboo grove naturally absorbs 2/3 more carbon dioxide and releases 1/3 more oxygen than its equivalent volume of trees. In addition, bamboo plantations improve the quality of the soil avoiding erosion and prevent water pollution due to its high nitrogen consumption.
In short, We do Wood has made every effort to reduce the carbon footprint of its products, taking this as a responsibility, taking into account aspects that affect the entire production process (raw materials) and consumption of its products (logistics and recyclability).
Jørgensen ,Danish designer, is the creative director and the signature behind the designs of We do Wood. Adapting the methodology extracted from his experience in the world of art, Jørgensen takes a very special view of the design process from the initial concept to the finished object.
Its motto is without doubt the simplicity. “The good furniture is one that is simply there and invites you to use it”, he says, running away from conceptualism.
Jørgensen’s work lies in the functionality, cleanliness and simplicity of his pieces, which are often the result of undressing the original idea. In addition, the concept of sustainability is not for Jørgensen, nor for We do Wood something temporary, if not the cornerstone of all his work.
