CRIATERRA was founded by its CEO Adital Ela, a sustainability designer and impact driven entrepreneur. It is lead by a creative team of designers and material engineers including Zvi Cohen, Elor Levy and Dan Eliash. Its Advanced Earth Technology was developed during an extensive 3 year scientific R&D process with hundreds lab tested samples.
CRIATERRA develops Advanced Earth Technologies and fabricates deeply sustainable and unique eco-innovative products made of earth and vegetal fibers, 100% natural & recyclable, that are as strong as concrete( and yet create only 5% of its environmental imprint) and at the same time embody the vision of a circular economy.
Their eco-innovative technology allows the mass production of constructive three dimensional elements as well as interior products.
"The story of CRIATERRA began in India, when I had my very first cup of real Indian chai. Like any local, after drinking my chai, I tossed the magical sun-dried clay cup to the ground, allowing it to become earth instantly once again. This experience sparked my designer’s curiosity: how could products, like people, come from Dust, and to Dust return? This moment started a research towards CRIATERRA’s technology that leans on a great tradition of producing native products and buildings with earth. Our R&D process applied contemporary science and technology to native knowledge aiming to transform this rich heritage to a leading industrial sustainable technology. Through this process I discovered that this knowledge also existed in my very own family, and that my grandmother built earth ovens in Iraq in a very similar technology that inspired CRIATERRA’s research."
