At Egurra Bikes the standard of quality is excellence. Each wooden bicycle frame or accessory that comes out of the Egurra Bikes workshops has hundreds of hours of work invested, as only in this way can such sublime finishes be obtained.
Each and every one of the Egurra bikes paintings, mudguards and models are unique and unrepeatable. Everything begins with the process of selecting the wood, continues with the process of handcrafted manufacture and culminates at the moment when the customer enjoys a bicycle made to measure.
At Egurra bikes, they are convinced of the importance of offering a design product without sacrificing safety. It is vital for them to select the wood planks well, and that is why they pay special attention to selecting the straightest possible fibers and free of knots so that the strength of the frame is not compromised. It is also very important to laminate the wood in different layers, as it provides greater resistance to the different pieces that make up a frame. In fact, without these laminations it would be impossible to certify any frame, since the resistance of a piece of wood to another of the same species and size is never the same. With lamination these differences disappear and high strength and bending parts are obtained.
Proof of their commitment to product safety are the 5 types of tests to which they submit the frame, thus complying with international safety regulations in cycles.
Fatigue test: Vertical forces. Vertical dynamic force cycles of 1000 Newton are applied at a point 70mm behind the seat post axis for 100,000 cycles.
Fatigue test: Pedalling forces. Each pedal shaft is subjected to a repeated force of 1000 Newton for 100,000 cycles.
Fatigue test: Horizontal forces. Dynamic force cycles of 450 Newton forward and 450 Newton backward are applied to the front fork tips for 100,000 cycles.
Finally the impact tests: Fall of a mass and fall of the frame.JOINS IN ISO 4210-6. This international standard has been developed to ensure that bicycles produced in accordance with this international standard are as safe as possible. The tests have been designed to guarantee the strength and durability of the various components and of the bicycle as a whole, demanding high quality at all levels and taking into account safety aspects from the design stage.
The soul. The geometry, the size, the materials... will determine the use and the behaviour it will have.
