Description

The sustainable stool or table VARINA represents the women called “VARINAS” from the lands of Var, today Ovar – a city in Portugal. They used to leave by train to Porto and Lisbon with a basket on a wheel on their heads, to sell fish. With cork as a base material, the table has a wheel that supports the top and represents the artifact that facilitates the transport of the basket on the head. The wheel is a small circular pillow made of felt scraps interwoven by hand.

Materials

Lightweight natural and recyclable composite cork; felt waste from the Portuguese hat industry in “grumpy black”, “deep blue”, “spicy red” or “scary blue” and flower or arrow print.

Finishes

Colorless aqueous coating on cork, with water, oil, stain and dust repellent properties, as well as high resistance to UV rays and aging.
